Lessons learned
Different rock types and operating techniques give great variations in bucket wear and maintenance costs. Choice of bucket equipment and steel type decides the total maintenance cost. Calculations based on experience show that choosing simpler bucket equipment and steel type can become between 40% and 120% more expensive than choosing original attachments and wear parts made of HARDOX 500. Although the examples are for loader buckets, the results would be very much the same for excavator and dragline buckets.
About the infopac
This infopac contains general examples. Volvo Wheel Loaders AB and SSAB Oxelösund AB cannot accept responsibility for every individual application case. Therefore, adaptations to the requirements in each individual case must be performed. Calculations of the Relative Maintenance Cost are based on test and field experiences corresponding to the Relative Wear Method. Calculations of service life have been performed according to the Relative Wear Method developed by SSAB Oxelösund AB, and the computer software WearCalc.
